What is HSK 1?

HSK 1 is the first level of the official Chinese proficiency test for complete beginners.

What does the HSK 1 exam test?

The current HSK 1 exam mainly tests listening and reading. You listen to short dialogues and sentences and choose the matching picture or answer. You also read very simple sentences and choose the correct option.

There is no separate speaking section in HSK 1, but speaking practice makes it easier to remember vocabulary and improve listening.
